SAN CARLOS City's Gerardo Valmayor III, son of Mayor Gerardo Jr., has been called up by the Philippine Football Federation on Monday to join the national team for the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Kailang, Singapore.
Valmayor, a scoring force in the United Football League, led the Negros Occidental side during a goodwill match against archrival Iloilo last month. He will join 19 others in the Philippine team headed by Coach Marlon Maro.

The national team will immediately face the host-country in the opener on June 1.
The Philippines won only one of five games played in Indonesia in 2011.
Two months ago, the National U23 squad also suffered losses in the 2016 AFC U23 Championship qualification held in Thailand losing to Cambodia (3-1), Thailand (5-1) and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (4-0).
Two weeks ago, the Filipinos also bowed to Southern Districts Australia, 1-nil.
