FOR the first time in over a week, practice for the Philippine women's volleyball team bound for the Southeast Asian Games enjoyed near-perfect attendance at the Blue eagle Gym inside the Ateneo campus.
"Andito 'yan silang lahat kanina," said national coach Roger Gorayeb, who had all but one of the 13 players in his pool showing up for the training he supervises with assistant coach Tai Bundit.
"Umalis lang ng maaga 'yung iba kasi may practice din daw sila sa mga club teams nila," he added.
Present were Alyssa Valdez, Jaja Santiago, Gretcel Soltones, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Rachel Anne Daquis, Aby Maraño, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Rhea Dimaculangan, Maika Ortiz, Jia Morado, Bea de Leon and libero Denden Lazaro were present.
The lone player missing was Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, who posted on her Twitter account on Friday night that she was cut from the Singapore-bound team.
However, Gorayeb said no one has yet to be cut from the team, explaining that Maizo-Pontillas failed to show up for practice due to her commitment with V-league club team Cagayan Valley.
"Si Aiza lang ang wala kasi may practice daw sa Cagayan," said Gorayeb.
