Philippines tops Group Four of Sudirman Cup badminton tournament in China

FILIPINO badminton players won Group Four of the 2015 Sudirman Cup badminton world team event recently at the Dongfeng Nissan Sports Center in Dongguan, China.   
The Philippine Badminton Association-Smash Pilipinas players defeated Sri Lanka in the Group Four finals, 3-0.
The team coached by Indonesia’s Paulus Firman and the Philippines’ Arolas Amahit Jr. earlier beat Iceland, 4-1, and Nigeria, 5-0.
“This is a great accomplishment so far,” said Firmanwho is hoping to see the team move up to Group Three for the 2017 tournament.
The team was composed of Ros Leenard Pedrosa in the men’s seniors singles, Frell Keeyann Pedrosa in the juniors singles and Sarah Joy Barredo and Airah Mae Nicole Albo in the junior women’s singles.
The doubles players were Eleanor Christine Inlayo and Alyssa Ysabel Leonardo, Anna Patricia Barredo and Thea Marie Pomar, Paul Jefferson Vivas and Peter Gabriel Magnaye, and Philip Joper Escueta and Ronel Estanislao.
Vivas and Inlayo teamed up for the mixed doubles, as did Estanislao and Pomar.
China clinched its 10th title in Group One, beating Japan, 3-0.
