Santos eyes record-breaking stint in Singapore SEAG

RUNNER Katherine Khay Santos aims to break her own records in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games in Singapore next month.
"If I can beat my records this June I will be really glad. That is the sole purpose why we athletes train, to be better than who we were yesterday," Santos, who is training in Manila under the Philippine Sports Commission, told Sun.Star Baguio through Facebook.
The former University of Baguio Cardinal, who will compete in the 100 meters and long jump events, is among the medal contenders for the Philippines.
"I'm doing great sa training and preparations ko for the SEA Games, so far maayos naman ang lahat," Santos said.
"In my assessment ready na ako, pero I need to maximize the time left bago sumabak sa Singapore," she added.
The 24-year-old former Baguio City National High School athlete won a bronze medal in the 77th Singapore Open Track and Field Championships last April.
In March, she earned the title as the Philippine's fastest female sprinter at the Philippine National Open-Invitational Athletics Championship in Laguna.
Santos ran an 11.99 seconds to win the 100-meters and finished second in the long jump with a 6.25 meter leap.
