‘High hopes’ for PH soldiers in SEA Games

The Armed Forces of the Philippines on Monday sent off its soldiers who will participate in the 28th Southeast Asian Games to be held this month.

About 50 soldiers will join 14 events in the SEA Games. Among the sports events that they will join include wushu, boxing, basketball and rowing.

“We have high hopes that they will be bringing home gold medals. They promised to do more than the last time. We are hopeful that their military discipline and their love of country will be a contribution as soldiers. That’s why we are confident that they will bring home medals, gold medals” AFP Public Affairs Office chief Lieutenant Colonel Harold Cabunoc told reporters.

The 28th SEA games will be held in Singapore from June 5 to 16.

Filipino participants will compete in 33 of 36 sports events where about 400 medals are up for grabs.
