GOOD LUCK, LADIES: PH volleyball team in high spirits ahead of departure for SEA Games

THE highly-touted Philippine women’s volleyball team was in high spirit on the eve of its departure for the 28th Southeast Asian Games.
Skipper Jovelyn Gonzaga and Co. held a tune-up match against their men’s counterpart on Wednesday at the Blue Eagle gym for its final competitive game in training ahead of the first stint by a Philippine women's volleyball team in the SEA Games in a decade.
The team will be leaving for the ‘Lion City’ on Thursday evening.
Officials of the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) have set a bronze medal finish as ‘a realistic target’ for the team made up of stars in the country's flourishing volleyball scene.
The entire team was in attendance during its tune-up against the men’s squad, with Gonzaga joining star player Alyssa Valdez, Rachel Anne Daquis, Jaja Santiago, Dindin Santigo-Manabat, Aby Maraño, Gretcel Soltones, Maika Ortiz, Rhea Dimaculangan, Jia Morado, Bea de Leon and Denden Lazaro.
De Leon though did not join the Filipina volleybelles in training owing to a bruised chin.
Also present was reserved player and assistant coach Aiza Maizo-Pontillas.
