Beach volleyball queen Jovelyn Gonzaga longs to get back to her first love

BEACH volleyball queen Jovelyn Gonzaga can’t wait to get back on the sand as she showed to support friend Fiolla Ceballos in the PLDT Home DSL Philippine Super Liga Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup.
The 23-year old pride of Sta. Teresa, Guimaras, Iloilo bared beach volleyball is her first love, having excelled in the sport before she became a standout in the six-a-side game in the UAAP, V-League and the national team.
“Sobra ko nang miss, first love ko ito eh” Gonzaga told Spin.ph from the sidelines while Ceballos played with Foton teammate Patty Orendain during the opening games of the Superliga league.
“Kaya lang ayaw ko pa bumalik nang hindi ako kundisyon, nang hindi ako ready,” she added.
Gonzaga holds an unblemished record in all of her beach volleyball tournaments, both in the country and abroad.
The soft-spoken spiker, who currently plays for Far Eastern University as a guest player in the Shakey’s V-League, is a three-peat champion in the Nestea Beach Volleyball, a many-time titlist in Iloilo and has won in Asian Beach Volleyball tournaments.
“Ang dami na nga nagi-invite sa akin,” she said. “Pero hindi ako makalaro kasi ang dami ko rin ibang commitments. Sa PSL nga gusto ko maglaro kaya lang may V-League ako, ayaw ko naman patayin ang sarili ko.”
The Ilongga beauty, however, vowed to make time for her first love next year.
“Pero next year talaga maglalaro na ako, susunggaban ko na,” she said.
