The objective of pétanque is to throw metal balls (called boules) towards a small wooden ball called a cochonnet. It can be played with 1, 2, or 3 players on each team. The first team to reach 13 points wins.
Alternatively, a team that achieves the highest score during a timed game wins. Each timed game lasts for 1 hour 15 minutes.
A total of 10 events for pétanque shall be contested at the 28th SEA Games:
• Singles (Men’s and Women’s)
• Doubles (Men’s, Women’s and Mixed)
• Triples (Men’s, Women’s and Mixed)
• Shooting (Men’s and Women’s)
• Doubles (Men’s, Women’s and Mixed)
• Triples (Men’s, Women’s and Mixed)
• Shooting (Men’s and Women’s)
