Archery at the 2015 SEA Games

Archery is the art, practice, or skill of propelling arrows with the use of a bow. The aim is to score the most points by accurately shooting the arrow into the centre of the target.
There are two types of bows that will be used in the archery events:
  • Recurve – A recurve bow has tips that curve away from the archer when the bow is strung. It stores and delivers more energy than a straight-limb bow, releasing a greater amount of energy and speed to the arrow.
  • Compound – A compound bow is a modern bow whose limbs are stiffer than the recurve bow. Compound bows are designed for maximum accuracy.
In all recurve events, all shots are taken from a distance of 70m with a 122cm, 6-ring target face, with a maximum of 10 points per arrow. In all compound events, all shots are taken from a distance of 50m with an 80cm, 6-ring target face, with a maximum of 10 points per arrow. The individual/team with the highest number of points is the winner.
There shall be 10 events for archery at the 28th SEA Games:
  • Individual Recurve (Men’s and Women’s)
  • Team Recurve (Men’s, Women’s and Mixed)
  • Individual Compound (Men’s and Women’s)
  • Team Compound (Men’s, Women’s and Mixed)
